We dedicated this issue to women who, despite stereotypes, have actively worked in the film industry since its inception, but often remained in the shadows.

To take a broader view of the topic, we selected five directors from different countries and generations for a big conversation: Sofia Coppola, Agnès Varda, Kira Muratova, Ann Hui, and Alice Rohrwacher. We visited the wardrobe and editing rooms to talk about those whose work remains unnoticed, despite being literally right in front of everyone's eyes. We looked at the stereotypes rom-coms pierce, the female nightmares that form the basis of thrillers and horror films, how the female image in cinema has changed, and how heroines have gone from nameless to anything.
