Chuck Wendig is an American writer and comic book author.

Wendig grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania. He studied English and religion at Queen's University of Charlotte, graduating in 1998. Before beginning to write fiction professionally, he worked as a screenwriter and role-playing game designer.

In November 2011, Wendig’s debut novel, Double Dead, was published, after which he began writing the Dinocalypse Now trilogy; unfortunately, Wendig was unable to complete the trilogy, stopping after two novels, and the publisher had to replace him with Carrie Harris. In the Miriam Black series, the protagonist is a girl with extraordinary abilities. She sees how a person will die if she touches them.

In 2015, Wendig wrote the first novel in a future trilogy in the new Star Wars canon, which told the story of events taking place in the Galaxy after the destruction of the second Death Star. Wendig’s trilogy, Aftermath, was intended to fill the gap between the saga’s sixth and seventh episodes. In the same year, the first novel in the future trilogy appeared on the bestseller lists of The New York Times and USA Today. Wendig made one of the main characters gay, which was received ambiguously by saga fans. Wendig planned to continue working on Star Wars-related works, in particular to write a comic series about Darth Vader, but for unknown reasons the contract with him was terminated, and in 2018 Wendig parted ways with the faraway Galaxy. It is presumed that his political activity on social media was to blame.

Wendig has run his blog, Terribleminds, since 2000, where he gives advice on the craft of writing. Much of his advice on writing books was collected in his book The Kickass Writer, published in 2013.

Chuck Wendig lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and son.
