Ernan Diaz
Hernan Diaz is an Argentine-American writer.
Hernan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When he was two years old, his family moved to Sweden. His family returned to Argentina after the restoration of democracy. After receiving a bachelor's degree in literature (Licenciatura en Letras) from the University of Buenos Aires, Hernan moved to London to earn a master's degree at King's College.
Diaz moved to New York in 1999. He received his PhD from New York University on the recommendation of Avital Ronell and Sylvia Molloy and defended a dissertation on a topic spanning comparative literature, Latin American literature, and philosophy.
Diaz has published several novels that have been translated into more than 20 languages. His essays and short stories have appeared in The Paris Review, Granta, Playboy, The Yale Review, and McSweeney's.
In addition to his writing, he is the managing editor of Revista Hispánica Moderna and deputy director of the Latin American Institute at Columbia University, USA. He previously taught at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the State University of New York (Albany), USA.
