Clara Dupont-Monod

Clara Dupont-Monod is a French journalist and writer.

She began her career as a journalist for Cosmopolitan magazine, joining the staff of Marianne as a senior reporter at the age of 24. In 2007, she became editor-in-chief of Marianne’s cultural pages. At the same time, she regularly contributed interviews broadcast on RTL radio in the program "On refait le monde," hosted by Nicolas Poincaré.

On August 31, 2009, Dupont-Monod joined the staff of the Canal+ program La Matinale. In the autumn of 2011, she was one of the columnists on the radio show Les Affranchis on France Inter.

In early 2012, she presented the literary program "Clara et les livres" every Saturday on France Inter, alongside two commentators. In 2013–2014, she hosted the political interview segment at 7:50 on France Inter’s Matinale, presented by Patrick Cohen, replacing Pascale Clark. In early 2014, she was replaced by Léa Salamé.

Since September 2014, Dupont-Monod has been writing a literary column on the France Inter news program Si tu écoutes, j'annule tout.

Dupont-Monod has also written several novels. Her first work, Eova Lucioles, was published in 1998. Her novel Le Fou du roi Marc tells the story of the forgotten husband of Iseut, drawn from the Tristan and Iseult myth. La passion selon Juette recounts the daily life and character of a prostitute whom the writer met and followed for a year.

Her fourth novel, La Passion selon Juette (2007), describes the struggle of a twelfth-century woman who refuses to submit to the dictates of a world in which women were constrained by the omnipotent Church. She drew inspiration from the biography of Yvette of Huy, written in medieval Latin by her friend, the cleric Hugh of Floreffe. This novel was awarded the Virgin-Lire Laurent-Bonelli Prize in its year of publication. The novel was nominated for the Prix Femina. She was a finalist on the shortlist for the 2007 Prix Goncourt.
