Marie Darrieussecq
She was born and raised in a small village in the Basque Country (France). She studied in Bayonne, then graduated from the Lycée Michel Montaigne in Bordeaux and the École Normale in Paris. She continued her studies at the New Sorbonne and the University of Paris VII. In 1997, she defended a dissertation on the prose of Leiris, Perec, Serge Doubrovsky, and Hervé Guibert. After the success of the novel Truismes, she left her university teaching position to focus on writing.
Marie’s first husband was a mathematician, and her second was an anthropologist. In 2001 she gave birth to a son, and in 2004 to a daughter.
