Olga Khristoforova
Olga Borisovna Khristoforova is a Russian folklorist and anthropologist, a specialist in social (cultural) anthropology, folkloristics, visual anthropology, and medical anthropology.
In 1992, she graduated from the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Department of Ethnology, defending, under the supervision of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A. A. Nikishenkov, her diploma thesis “The Vodou Cult in the Context of the Ethnic History of Haiti.” In 1993, she worked in the Traditional Culture Sector of the Heritage Institute, and in 1994–1997 she worked at the Center for Visual Anthropology of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
In 1996, she completed postgraduate studies at the Institute for Higher Humanitarian Studies of the Russian State University for the Humanities. In 1997–1998, she was a leading specialist at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology of the Russian State University for the Humanities. In 1997, at RSUH, under the supervision of Doctor of Philological Sciences E. S. Novik, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Cultural Studies on the topic “Modeling Behavior in Archaic Cultures: Based on the Small Folklore Genres of the Peoples of Siberia” (Specialty 24.00.01 — Theory of Culture (Cultural Studies)).
Since 1998, she has been senior lecturer, associate professor, and professor at the Educational and Research Center for Social Anthropology of RSUH. In 2001–2002, she was a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Moscow State University, where she taught the course “Visual Anthropology of the Peoples of Russia.” In 2001–2004, she was academic secretary of Dissertation Council D.212.198.06 (Cultural Studies) at RSUH. Until November 1, 2011, she was associate professor at the Educational and Research Center for Typology and Semiotics of Folklore of RSUH.
Since 2011, she has been director of the Educational and Research Center for Typology and Semiotics of Folklore of RSUH. In 2011, at RSUH, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences on the topic “
