Sasha Filipenko

Sasha Filipenko is a Belarusian writer and journalist.

He was born in Minsk on July 12, 1984. By nationality, he is Belarusian.

He graduated from the Ahramchik Arts Lyceum. He enrolled at the European Humanities University. After the university’s closure in Minsk, he moved to Saint Petersburg. In Saint Petersburg, he graduated from the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Saint Petersburg State University (2007) and completed his master’s degree (2009).

From 2009 to 2011, he worked at Channel One, where he wrote scripts for the programs Prozhektorperiskhilton, Multy osoba, and Yesterday Live. He then moved to the Dozhd TV channel. His largest project was the television show Evening Gerasimets. Among Dozhd viewers, Sasha Filipenko’s visits to famous natural science museums around the world are very popular, especially the experiments to which natural scientists subject the bold television journalist.

In 2020, he hosted the weekly program Na troikh on the RTVI channel. He launched his YouTube channel Former Son, where he held “Solidarity Readings” in support of Belarusians before the elections.

In 2020, the play based on the novel Red Cross premiered at the Gogol Center in Moscow. In 2021, the Alexandrinsky Theatre is expected to premiere three plays by Filipenko.

He writes in Russian and Belarusian. He collaborates with literary journals in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
