Susan Juby
Susan Juby was born in 1969 in the Canadian town of Smithers, where she lived until the age of twenty. She then moved to Toronto. For some time she worked in fashion design while simultaneously receiving the relevant education, and also worked as a waitress and as a sales clerk in a music store. She later changed fields and began studying English literature—first at the University of Toronto and later at the University of British Columbia. After graduating, she found work as an editor in Vancouver. Since the company specialized in publishing, some time later Juby earned a master’s degree in this field. Susan has loved inventing stories since childhood, but her desire to pursue writing professionally came to her only at the age of twenty-six. She recalls that she wrote before work, on the bus, or in cafés. I Was a Teenage Fairy is her debut work for adults and young adults. In addition to writing, Susan Juby also conducts workshops, seminars, and lectures on creative writing at the University of Vancouver. polyandria
