Look: Baikal! A Travel Book (Smotri Baykal)
21.93£
Majestic and unique, Lake Baikal, the most beautiful and deepest lake in the world, is a treasure for the entire planet. But for each of us, Baikal is our own, special. Do you want to discover your own Baikal? Then you need a good guide. This unique book journey will prepare you for a meeting with the real Baikal: we've collected a wide range of facts—about the lake's history, its character and inhabitants, and routes of varying difficulty—and we've tried to tell you about the problems Baikal faces right now. There are so many of them that this enormous ancient lake desperately needs your help today. And we'll show you how to help Baikal and participate in its life from anywhere on Earth. Anya and Varya Kendel are Russian artists, twin sisters who love to travel and create book illustrations together. In 2021, Anya spent five months on the shores of Lake Baikal, and two years before that, she kayaked 400 kilometers along its western shore. It was on that trip that the idea for a book about Lake Baikal was born. The project won the 'Book Inside' competition held by Samokat Publishing House in 2019.
