'Socrates, President' is based on Plato's famous dialogue 'Gorgias.' The children's book stars the philosopher Socrates and the easily recognizable sophist Gorgias. Throughout the story, Socrates and Gorgias argue about truth, justice, the nature of pleasure, and even the ideal candidate. Socrates says that 'it is better to endure injustice than to commit it,' while Gorgias thinks this is foolish. But they share a common goal: to ensure that Socrates becomes president and, together with Gorgias, make people more just.
