Charlie Spring is a tenth-grader at Trueham Grammar School for Boys. Last year wasn't exactly a success, but at least he's no longer being bullied. Nick Nelson is in eleventh and on the school rugby team. He's heard a little about Charlie—the boy who came out last year and was bullied for months—but he's never interacted with him before. They become friends, and soon Charlie falls head over heels for Nick, even though he knows he has no chance.
