'The Gods of Mango' is the fifth installment of the 'Beastly Detective' series. The Badgers of the Far Forest Police are sent on a mission to the African savannah to investigate the kidnapping of a baby giraffe, Rafik, a newborn giraffe of the Exquisite Giraffes. Mortal danger constantly accompanies the Badgers of the Police. After all, the Far Forest spares no one: neither strangers nor friends. It is a terrifying and dangerous place, where cruelty and lawlessness reign, brutal sacrifices are made, and the law of the strong prevails.

But for a brave and honest animal, the Far Forest can also become a place of power, helping the animal find itself and true love. Badger Senior, Badgercat, and Vulture Vulture do not back down from difficulties. They conduct their investigation, guided by the just principles by which the inhabitants of their native Far Forest live.

However, solving this complex case does not mean victory. The inhabitants of the Sparse Forest must be told the difficult truth that has been revealed. But the powers that be have no need of the truth.
