'Come on, Pettson,' cried Findus, 'can you hop from here to the house on two legs?' 'I think so, but I don't feel like it,' said Pettson. While old Pettson is busy with the housework, Findus the kitten amuses himself as best he can: he gets tangled up in Pettson's legs, then starts chasing the chickens. Pettson gradually becomes drawn into his amusements—he's scaring the chickens, too, and climbing a tree, just like he did as a child. Finally, the old man and the kitten go to an island on the lake and have a picnic there.

Critic's review:
I fell in love with Nordqvist precisely for his illustrations, funny and touching. They take us straight back to our own childhood: remember what it's like to lie down in the grass and imagine yourself little, living in a grassy forest? All the leaves, bugs, and ants turn out to be the same size as you, and so much opens up in this tiny world! This is approximately what happens when you look at Nordqvist's illustrations - each page is a little world of its own. In addition to the main characters, who are very distinctive, literally every bug, every flower lives its own life and also has character. Ekaterina Golubeva. 'Papmambuk'
