Matilda is a small and very smart girl. Very, very smart. She taught herself to read at the age of three and loves books more than anything in the world. And not just any children's fairy tales, but Dickens, Hemingway, Steinbeck and Kipling. But, unfortunately, this is not at all to the taste of her parents, two rather unpleasant individuals who would prefer that she watch stupid programs on TV, like them. And at school, little Matilda is in trouble, because the headmistress hates children and cruelly torments them. But fortunately, Matilda's teacher is incredibly kind to her and attentive. Moreover, Matilda suddenly discovers supernatural abilities...
As in other stories by the famous Roald Dahl, in 'Matilda' he ridicules stupidity and narrow-mindedness and allows intelligence and justice to triumph over them. And he makes both children and adults laugh. Smart adults, of course.
