'The Bus' is a modern take on the well-known story of Little Red Riding Hood, except no one eats anyone else. In Canadian artist Marianne Dubuc's tender and wry version, inquisitive Clara embarks on her first solo bus journey. She's a little nervous, anticipating a real adventure. Along the way, Clara meets other passengers, shares a cookie with a wolf cub, and exposes a thief—all of which she can't wait to tell her grandmother, who's waiting for her at the final stop.
This book is loved by both the youngest readers (listeners), who delightedly recognize their favorite animals in the passengers and follow their movements, and older preschoolers, who enjoy studying Dubuc's detailed illustrations, finding clues, laughing, being surprised, and experiencing Clara's emotions.
