The Lives of the Surrealists (Syurrealisty v Zhizni)

In the entire history of art, there is no other artistic movement that features two artists as different as Magritte and Miró. The fact is that, at its origins, Surrealism is not so much an artistic movement as a philosophical concept. It was a comprehensive way of life and activity—a protest against the establishment that unleashed the horrific and bloody First World War. Without attempting to analyze the Surrealists' works, the renowned writer and Surrealist artist Desmond Morris focused on the Surrealists as individuals—outstanding personalities.
