She was born in Melbourne, Australia. In her blog she mentioned that her real name is Catherine.

While studying at Melbourne University, where she studied geology, Pacat wrote two books of her Captive Prince trilogy, and later wrote the third, final book in the trilogy.

Initially, in 2008, she published chapters of her work on LiveJournal under the username freece. The Captive Prince story captivated readers, and then the author took out a $10,000 bank loan and in 2013 self-published the book under the pseudonym S.U. Pacat.…
