Those like me are called Mara — marked by the goddess of death Morana herself. Once upon a time, my six sisters and I had our own path. Back then people respected us and begged for mercy. They brought us offerings and prayed to us. But 200 years ago everything changed, when the prince of Serat dared to raise his hand against one of us. I tried to take revenge, but all of us perished. Now the rulers of Araken, mired in a long war with their neighbor Serat, have decided to bring me back to life. To give me a second chance at revenge and freedom, by binding me to the one against whom I will never turn. Those like him are called Morok, and absolutely everyone fears them. 'Mara and Morok' is a blend of dark fantasy, young adult romance, and Slavic mythology. Lia Arden won readers' love with her very first book. A gripping plot, unusual setting, narrative across two timelines, a love line, and conspiracies. The story of the resurrected Mara, chosen by the goddess of death herself, and Morok, the servant of Darkness who revived her. Murders. Betrayals. Love.
