Anya has a secret: she sees ghosts and helps them escape the world. This ability often causes her problems communicating with people. After a painful breakup, she returns to her hometown of Dzhuketau to start anew. Trying to cope with writer's block and loneliness, Anya starts a blog where she posts photographs of old houses with architraves. One day, while taking a photo, she encounters the owner of the house and her grandson, Ruslan, a historian. They become close, but relatives, living and dead, object to their relationship because Ruslan is Tatar and Anya is Russian. Anya learns she is cursed. If they don't separate, Ruslan will die.
