Alexander Stesin is a poet, novelist, traveler, and oncologist, author of 'Come Back and Get It,' 'Dinner for the Fire,' and 'The Path of Tea.' His new book is an account of his work in hospitals scattered throughout New York City. A city where many cultures coexist and medical experiences, sometimes extreme, offer reasons to reflect on how different people fate brings here and how relative these differences become in the face of adversity and the desire to help each other. A distance perspective allows the writer to better understand his experience of exploring the world and treating people—which is why the book, which begins in New York, ends in New Delhi.
The book was awarded the 2019 NOS Literary Prize.
