A moldy boy and volcanic cats, friendship with cockroaches and parting with a dragon: in Masha Gavrilova's magical autofiction, the fantastical element splits the everyday and inhabits the rift, like stubborn plants in cracks in the asphalt. In her collection of stories, 'Horrors of Life,' motifs from children's horror stories and fairy tales, and sometimes even genuine body horror, are woven into stories of friendship and co-presence, told in the first person. Masha Gavrilova is a writer, feminist researcher, artist, and playwright of Udmurt and Tajik descent. She has published in the magazines 'Neznanie' (Unknown) and 'Prochtenie' (Reading), the autofiction webzine Autovirus, and story collections published by Popcorn Books and No Kidding Press. She is a co-organizer and curator of the women's writing festival 'Tears of an Author.' Lives in different places, but always with her cat Praxis.
