This book is a continuation of 'The Monkey Diary,' which Jane Birkin kept from 1957 to 1982. Jane recounts her life after her breakup with Serge Gainsbourg. It included new love and the birth of a child, the ups and downs of her artistic career, difficult relationships with her grown-up older daughters and the joy of their first artistic successes, touring and recording albums, participation in theatrical productions, charity concerts in war-torn Yugoslavia, roles in art-house films, illness, the loss of loved ones, the birth of grandchildren... When Gainsbourg died, Jane placed her talisman, a stuffed monkey named Monkey, with whom she had never been parted, in his coffin with him. When her eldest daughter, Kate, died, Jane closed the diary she had kept since the age of eleven and never wrote another line in it.
