This book includes recordings of Alexander Sokurov's meetings with listeners, as well as his conversations as part of the Open Library project with Archpriest Alexei Uminsky; writers Lyudmila Ulitskaya and Svetlana Alexievich; director Kirill Serebrennikov; journalist and CEO of the Meduza news project Galina Timchenko; and Nyuta Federmesser, president of the Vera Hospice Charity Foundation. The Open Library, featuring Alexander Sokurov, became a platform for an important conversation about Russian history, the state and culture, the past and future of our country, and the need to hear and understand each other. The book opens with a foreword by cultural historian Alexander Etkind.
