'Walking the Streets of Moscow' (1963) by Georgy Daneliya, with a screenplay by Gennady Shpalikov, is one of the symbols of Thaw cinema, a light comedy about a day in the lives of several young people and their big city. Starring up-and-coming actors Nikita Mikhalkov, Galina Polskikh, Yevgeny Steblov, and Alexey Loktev, shot by cinematographer Vadim Yusov, with a song set to music by Andrey Petrov, and an instant hit, the film spoke freely and easily of friendship and love, mutual support, and the wonderful future that lies ahead, somewhere very close.
