Passions of the Revolution: The Emotional Element of 1917 (Strasti Revolyutsii)
23.39£
The 1917 Revolution is a frequent subject of study for modern historians. But how close have they come to understanding its nature in more than a century? Vladimir Buldakov believes that modern social studies tend to skim the surface of external events instead of penetrating the essence of one of the major tectonic shifts in Russian history. Using archival documents, diaries, and the memoirs of contemporaries, he—contrary to popular interpretations—seeks to demonstrate that the revolution was not governed by political logic, but rather represented a spontaneous uprising for which the country was unprepared. For this reason, Buldakov rejects attempts to describe the revolution as a controlled project and offers the reader an emotional chronicle of events. This chronicle aims to answer the question: how did the utopia of world revolution become engulfed in the bloody fog of the 'Red Troubles'?
