The core of this collection by the Russian avant-garde writer and zaum poet consists of 12 of his lectures on Russian literature and avant-garde theory. Among them are: 'New Schools in Russian Poetry,' 'House on Shit,' 'Poetry after the Bathhouse,' 'Iliazda,' 'Berlin and Its Hackwork,' 'Yesenin's Salt,' 'The Poet and Society,' and others. The texts are published from the author's original manuscripts, many of which have never been reproduced. The appendices include other versions and fragments, unknown articles and notes from the 1920s, press reviews, as well as the play 'Assassination with Unsuitable Means' (1940) and a surviving excerpt from Iliazda's lecture on French Lettrism (1947).
