March 1956, Mud Bay, Ketchikan, Alaska. A baby is born. Through skylights, keyholes, and magnifying glasses, we see the world around us through its eyes. Moving from the infinitely small to the infinitely large—from a beetle squirming under a magnifying glass to stars twinkling in a telescope lens, from a seaplane flying overhead to a shuttle plowing through the vastness of space—we watch as it grows, makes discoveries, dreams of space, loses a loved one, finds love, crosses the atmosphere, raises a son, endures separation, and returns to its parents' home. Human life unfolds before us, simple and grandiose.
