Devid D. Berns
David Burns is a Doctor of Medical Sciences and one of the founders of cognitive therapy. He is the author of several bestsellers that help combat depression, panic attacks, and other behavioral crises, including without medication.
He was born on September 19, 1942, in the United States, into the family of a Lutheran pastor. From childhood, he was interested in science and decided to make it his career. In 1964, he graduated from Amherst College with a bachelor’s degree, and in 1970 he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. In addition to treating patients, he teaches a course in psychotherapy and drug therapy at the University of Pennsylvania and gives lectures to specialists around the world.
He has received numerous awards, including the A. E. Bennett Award for research into chemical processes in the human brain and the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists’ “Outstanding Contribution” award.
