This book introduces the reader to one of the most beautiful passages of short prose by Herbert Wells (1866-1946), a famous English science fiction writer. The characters in his story are people whose lives are filled with something unexpected: either a scientific discovery, or a charmer who conquers all the dishes, or just a hungry ostrich, who suddenly forged a diamond. Even if the owner demonstrates his edge, it is more likely to demonstrate his enmity, which is where true enchantment reigns... Recommended for reading in the 7th grade.
