The fairytale characters of the Moomins were created in the 1930s by the writer and talented artist Tove Jansson. It is thanks to them that Tove Jansson is known and loved worldwide—the Moomin books have been translated into more than 30 languages. This is unsurprising, given that the inhabitants of the hospitable valley are so sweet and kind. Yet, surprisingly, Jansson initially envisioned the charming Moomins as grumpy creatures from her humorous drawings. And yet, these magical stories ultimately have happy endings!
