The biography of Eduard Limonov (1943–2020), written by the French writer Emmanuel Carrère, achieved great European success and was translated into Russian in 2013, during the hero's lifetime, earning—at least as a literary fact—a favorable assessment from him.
The new edition is being published in the year of Limonov's eightieth birthday, against the backdrop of the war he predicted, and confirms both the relevance of the figure of the writer, who experienced the most acute internal conflicts of his country, and the insight of his biographer, who managed to capture the spirit of several cultural worlds through which Limonov passed in his development, including the turbulent atmosphere of Russia in the 1990s and 2000s, where he experienced a second youth full of hopes and disappointments.
