The family and friends of a bachelor millionaire, gathered for his funeral, are dividing up the inheritance. Doctors ruled the cause of death as natural. However, the family's lawyer is alarmed by a remark made by one of the relatives: 'But he was murdered, wasn't he?' The following night, the woman who uttered these words is brutally murdered with an axe. The lawyer is perplexed. Of course, reading the deceased's last will and testament is out of the question in such a situation. Finally, he concludes that only the great detective Hercule Poirot could identify the killer among the extended family...
