Monsieur Jourdain passionately dreams of entering high society. To this end, he tries his best to imitate the nobles: he commissions a tailor to make suits that actually look ridiculous; he takes music, dance, and fencing lessons, understanding nothing of them, and merely squanders money on endless tutors. 'It turns out we speak prose!' he delightedly tells his wife, demonstrating his newly acquired erudition. And he doesn't notice that everyone is making fun of him...
