The classic Chinese novel 'The Spell Broken' is widely beloved by readers in its home country and is officially classified as a 'popular book for enjoyable reading.' Its authorship is generally attributed to the great 14th-century Chinese writer Luo Guanzhong, creator of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and the final text was edited by Feng Menglong (1574–1646), one of the most celebrated literary figures of his time. The numerous characters in 'The Spell Broken,' such as the sorceress White Fox, the lame demon Zuo, the graceful fox Hu Mei'er, and many others, commit various misdeeds and actively interfere in the lives of ordinary people and courtiers, for which they inevitably face retribution. The text is accompanied by illustrations and drawings by Chinese and Japanese artists.
