Viktor Dragunsky wrote 'Deniska's Stories' in the late 1950s. Much has changed since then, but we still laugh when we hear 'Vasya's dad is good at math.' This edition is unusual. It includes not only stories about Deniska and his friends, but also stories about life sixty years ago. They were written by Denis Dragunsky, a novelist and the writer's son. He recounted how they played hide-and-seek in communal apartments and raced bicycles in the courtyard, about soda pop and generals' buttons, and how parts of 'Deniska's Stories' are fictional and what actually happened.
