Mama, I Ate an Elephant (Mama Ya Syela Slona)

Fifteen-year-old Vera is going to a chess tournament in Sochi. She dreams of living up to the expectations of her coach and parents, but she has absolutely no confidence in herself, so during the excursion she makes a wish at an ancient dolmen—to become famous, even if only for one day. Her wish seems to be coming true, but to achieve final victory, Vera must beat her roommate, Sveta, who will be harshly punished at home for losing. Sveta dreams of using the prize money to escape to Moscow and find freedom from her parents' expectations. The girls' stories intertwine. What choice will Vera make, and how will it impact the fate of each of them?
