Yulia Yakovleva

Yulia Yakovleva is a writer, journalist, art historian, and editor. She is a regular contributor to the online platforms Afisha, Colta.ru, Gorky.media, and Arzamas. She is the author of books on ballet and plays, detective novels, and reality fairy tales.

Yulia Yakovleva worked as a ballet critic for the newspaper Kommersant and as an editor for Architectural Digest magazine. In the 1990s and 2000s, she was professionally associated with the Mariinsky Theatre: she worked in the theatre’s press office and museum, organized tours for the ballet company, and gave lectures. During this period, her books Mariinsky Theatre. Ballet. The 20th Century, The ABC of Ballet, and The ABC of Love were published, as well as the plays Apartment No. 1937, Final Stop, and March Home. In recent years, she has been writing detective novels and reality fairy tales (the Leningrad Tales cycle).
