Incredible events are unfolding at the Paris Zoo: a one-eyed Arctic wolf and a small African boy silently share stories, each more astonishing than the last. In their two pupils—the boy's and the wolf's—the snow-covered tundra and the yellow, gray, and green of Africa flash by, one after another. Somewhere in the past, gunshots ring out, screams echo, the roar of propellers and the howling of jackals echo, golden sparkles flash, and rain envelops the jungle. The wolf and the boy gaze intently at each other.
