Thank you for choosing and trusting me ????
Here's what Yulia Navalnaya writes about this book:
'This is not at all how I imagined Alexei would write his biography. I thought that we would be almost 80 years old, and he would be sitting sedately at the computer by the open window and typing. And I would walk around and grumble that my grandchildren would soon arrive, and he was wasting his time.
But after the attempted poisoning in 2020, everyone said: 'Alexei, you should write a book.' And he brushed it off. Well, what A biography at 44? Only a little more than half of my life has passed. And I wasn’t in any particular hurry - after all, there was so much still ahead. But everything turned out the way it did. Terrible and very, very unfair. It turned out that there was no other half ahead.
Nevertheless, Alexey still started writing the book then and unexpectedly quickly got involved. He liked to recall the events of his life in connection with events in the country. For example, he happily described his childhood. But I won’t get ahead of myself. You will soon read everything for yourself.
On October 22, Alexey’s biography will be published simultaneously in many languages. It has already been translated into 11, and pre-orders for them are available from today. It will definitely be published in Russian too.
And Alexey’s (and now Yulia’s) press secretary Kira Yarmysh:
“In October 2020, I was leaving the office when Alexey called me and said: “Come to Germany. There is 'case.'
Two months had passed since the poisoning. I, having visited Berlin after he came out of the coma, returned to Moscow. Alexey stayed to finish his treatment. Little time had passed since my departure - and then suddenly the mysterious 'case'.
When I arrived, I found Alexey's house full of people with cameras. It turns out that the day before they started filming a documentary about him. But Alexey didn't call me for that.
He decided to write a book. An autobiography.
Sitting at the computer for a long time was still difficult for Alexey, and besides, we had a system honed over years of YouTube scripts: he dictates, I write down, sometimes we consult. Alexey had a rare talent for speaking immediately as if it were written. My job was to keep up with him, and occasionally interject: 'that word was recently used!'
Before leaving for Russia, we were doing this.
Then I I've heard people say many times about his posts from prison: 'Alexey writes so well, I wish he would write a book!' And I wanted to clap my hands and shout: 'He writes! He writes!' But we agreed to keep everything secret.
Now the secrets are over. Alexey's book, which he began in Germany and finished in prison, will be published on October 22nd. It will be released simultaneously in 11 languages, including Russian, of course—we'll tell you where and how.
I can't wait. I can't wait for you to read it.'
