Miss McGillicuddy, an elderly woman, tells her friend that she witnessed a horrific scene from a train window during a stopover: a man strangling a young woman in the window of an oncoming train. The trains pass each other, and Miss McGillicuddy, to determine whether she's hallucinating, must rely on her friend's help. But her friend is no ordinary friend—her name is Miss Jane Marple!
