One of the best books about fate and inevitable doom. A song of sorrow and tragedy. Spray of salty water on the face, the creaking of masts and gusts of icy wind burst into reality from the pages of the novel. The Pequod still sails across the ocean of human sorrows with its crew of outcasts, bastards and cannibals, seeking the most terrible monster that dwells in the universe. Its name is Fear. To kill it within themselves. There is no better fate, no greater valor and no greater honor. Courage before which the heroes of Homer pale. A song about the suffering of the human soul that chills you to the bone, gives you goosebumps.

Herman Melville (1819–1891) is a famous American writer. From the age of 18 he sailed as a cabin boy on a packet boat, for a time worked as a teacher, and then ended up on a whaling ship. Unable to endure the tyranny of the stern captain, he ran away. For a month he lived among cannibals in the Typee Valley. He began his creative career by describing his life in captivity.

'Moby-Dick, or The White Whale' is one of the greatest American novels and an allegory of man's struggle with the world's evil. The author called the book a romantic adventure based on his two years of experience as a harpooner and on one of those wild legends told among the whalers of the southern seas. The plot is based on a true story. Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner declared the novel a literary icon, and in the USA a genuine cult of Melville still reigns.
