A whole gallery of vivid images of the contemporaries of the classic English writer Jane Austen—noble and cunning, reckless and cowardly, prim and timid—appears on the pages of her works. Austen's first mature novel, 'Sense and Sensibility,' tells the story of two sisters, the prudent Elinor and the passionate Marianne. The girls see the world differently: one listens to the voice of her heart, the other acts as her mind dictates. Each of them fights for the opportunity to marry her beloved, despite all the circumstances. After all, both desperately want the same thing—love and happiness.

The book has been adapted for the screen several times. Ang Lee's film 'Sense and Sensibility,' starring Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, and Hugh Grant, won numerous international film awards, including an Oscar.
