Istanbul: Memories and the City (Stambul Gorod Vospominaniy)

Orhan Pamuk is a renowned Turkish writer, winner of numerous national and international awards, including the Nobel Prize in Literature for 'searching for the soul of his melancholic city.' Indeed, nearly all of his novels are set in Istanbul, a mysterious and beautiful city that has experienced both its greatest glory and the sad twilight of its decline. However, while in other works the city artfully lurks behind the scenes, serving as a convenient backdrop, in his book 'Istanbul: City of Memories,' Pamuk casts it as the protagonist. Recounting his childhood and youth, the writer reveals Istanbul as a mystery worth exploring and loving.
