The sugary, white Kremlin is the heart of Russia in the 2020s, a country that survived the Red, Gray, and White Troubles, closed itself off from the outside world, and immersed in sleep. Everyone possesses a little of this heart—everyone, every cowgirl, every prisoner, and every midget has at least a shard of its refined replica—but in reality, it belongs to no one. Fifteen short stories from the collection 'Sugar Kremlin,' seemingly written in completely different ways and about different topics, come together to form a picture of a ghostly, doomed reality, soaking like a sugar tower in tea. The collection of stories 'Sugar Kremlin' was first published in 2008. Along with the novella 'Day of the Oprichnik,' it was nominated for the 'Big Book' award; in 2009, it won the audience award at the 'NOS' award.
