2048. In a secret concrete laboratory somewhere in the vast expanses of 'Vostok-Siberia,' a group of scientists is the first in Russia to produce 'blue lard,' a unique substance whose entropy is always zero and whose temperature is always constant, equal to the body temperature of the donor. The donors are clones of famous writers: Dostoevsky-2, Tolstoy-4, Chekhov-3, Platonov-3, Nabokov-7, Pasternak-1, Akhmatova-2. Under the watchful eye of biologists, they create texts in inhuman torment, after which they enter a cumulative suspended animation, and their bodies begin to produce 'blue lard.' Laboratory employee Boris Gloger describes the entire process in letters to his Chinese lover. He also sends him texts from the cloned authors. The action then takes us to Siberian sectarians, and then to an alternate 1954 where Europe is divided between Hitler, in love with Stalin's daughter, and Stalin, in love with Count Khrushchev. And with each page, the absurdity mounts.
