Lina (Lina Priklyucheniya Arkhitektora)
16.67£
Lina was born in 1914 in Rome. She dreams of becoming an architect, although this is practically impossible – life around her only seems calm: World War I is raging, and Mussolini is rising to power. But she does not give up on her dream, convinced that architecture cannot exist without people. Therefore, she devotes herself entirely to her studies and design. Lina graduated and moved to Milan to work at Gio Ponti's studio. And during World War II, she left for Brazil, where she met other famous architects. Lina Bo Bardi (an Italian-born Brazilian modernist architect and designer) became a significant figure in the world of 20th-century art and architecture. She inspired Angela Leon to create this magnificent illustrated biography, in which you will learn not only about Lina herself but also about her most famous projects: the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia (MAMB), and the SESC Pompeia cultural center. The book has been translated into Portuguese and Korean and was included in the IBBY Honour List (2021) and the FNLIJ (Brazilian National Foundation of Children's and Youth Literature).
