A Clockwork Orange (Zavodoy Apelsin)

'A Clockwork Orange' is a literary paradox of the 20th century. Continuing the futuristic tradition in literature, experimenting with the language spoken by the emerging generation of malltship-all-shiks and 'nadsaty' pussies, Anthony Burgess creates a novel recognized as a classic of modern literature. The intelligent, cruel, charismatic antihero Alex, the leader of a street gang, preaching violence as a high art of life, a kind of pleasure, falls into the iron grip of the latest state program for the rehabilitation of criminals and becomes a victim of violence himself. Is it possible to save the world from evil by depriving people of the will to commit acts and turning them into 'clockwork oranges'? This question is as relevant today as it was yesterday, and the author poses this question to the reader.
