Albert Camus's early novel, 'A Happy Death,' will undoubtedly intrigue readers because it conceals many mysteries. Although unpublished during the author's lifetime, 'A Happy Death' opens Camus's creative dialogue with Nietzsche—a dialogue that served as a source of inspiration and literary discovery for Camus throughout his life. 'A Happy Death' is a tender attempt at writing, yet the novel already clearly evokes the theme of 'The Stranger,' which would later become a leitmotif of the French existentialist's work.
