'Airport' is a bestselling novel by Arthur Hailey, published in 1968. A fictional town home to a major airport is unexpectedly engulfed by a snowstorm, forcing all services to operate in emergency mode.
The airport staff are beset by one problem after another, from a vanished grocery delivery truck to a horrific plane crash. Added to this are the characters' escalating personal problems and complex emotional dramas—the tangled web of plot lines that unfolds over the course of a single Friday evening.
Airport was adapted into a film in 1970, starring leading Hollywood actors and earning ten Oscar nominations! Three more sequels followed.
