David Copperfield (Devid Kopperfild)

The celebrated novel 'David Copperfield' by the great English writer Charles Dickens has won the love and acclaim of readers worldwide. Largely autobiographical, this novel tells the story of a boy forced to fight alone against a cruel, bleak world populated by evil teachers, selfish manufacturers, and heartless servants of the law. In this unequal war, only moral strength, purity of heart, and an extraordinary talent capable of transforming a filthy ragamuffin into England's greatest writer can save David Copperfield. 'David Copperfield' was admired by Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Henry James, and Friedrich Kafka. Dickens himself wrote in one of his prefaces to the novel: 'I will easily be believed if I say that I am as a tender father to all the children of my fancy, and that no one ever loved this family as dearly as I do.' But there is one child who is especially dear to me, and, like many tender fathers, I cherish him in the deepest recesses of my heart. His name is 'David Copperfield.'
